I was given clobetasol for my scalp and the psoriasis all over the rest of my body. It worked for me, but in the 2 weeks I was told to take it, the psoriasis was not completely gone - and once I stopped taking it in favor of the next medication my dermatologist suggested, Protopic (tacrolimus - an immunosuppressant), it came right back worse than ever.

I don't personally get the happiness during summer thing. My skin doesn't get particularly dry in the winter and in the summer, if I get overheated, with my psoriasis my entire body starts to itch, especially my scalp - making me irritable and annoyed.

I had a mild but persistent case of scalp psoriasis. An excellent dermatologist gave me a bag full of topical "Clobex" samples (clobetasol propionate) and instructions to shampoo my hair every day with Neutrogena T-Sal shampoo. In less than two weeks, the itching and flaking were completely gone.

I had put off going to the dermatologist, instead trying to treat myself with over the counter dandruff stuff. Should have gone to the dermatologist in the first place, instead of buying every single dandruff shampoo I could find - which didn't work.

I think Clobex works because it's a strong topical steroid.

It varies from drug to drug, depending on factors such as the amount of testing that they believe is necessary to how long the Food and Drug Administration takes to review the end product. Since this may not quite be the highest priority, probably on the order of 6 months after the company believes it's ready.

Wyeth in Ireland? Let me be a test subject, I don't need IL-22. I hope!

I jest, though I'd love to help and I'm rather smart in the grey matter department.

I've had this since I was a kid, though it's come on a lot on my arms and legs in the past year, I've been smoking and drinking and feeling dreadful so I'm guessing that has something to do with it appearing again, however, giving up drinking and smoking is making it worse due to the fact drink now calms me down and I've noticed after a hard nights drinking my skin actualy improves. I think this is to do with a lack of moisture in my body and need for water, odd, maybe, though what if the causes are related to water as well as IL-22?

Make anti IL-22? Suck me dry of water?

Interesting ideas though I may be talking abslute rubbish, either way I'm buying a UV light tomorrow and a red plastic sheet to cure my arms and legs.

Annette,
Don't be a stranger, you and your boyfriend are the reason why I created the site (I say both of you because we all know that when one of us is suffering, the other hates it too). I am so glad to hear that it is working, mine worked just as quickly. I think what he'll find is that he will have no symptoms of psoriasis once it really heals up, then if he continues to use the shampoo it will mostly stay that way, with occasional flare-ups that he will feel coming on with very minor symptoms, and he can use the topical solution once or twice and it will zap it. I'm SO happy to hear that I may have played a role in your boyfriend's relief, please keep me posted and feel free to come back on with changes (good or bad). Thanks for making my day!

It is working for my boyfriend and it's only been two weeks! His scalp has cleared up and he is virtually itch free for the first time in his life. No more big scales building up and flaking off! He is SO relieved! Funny that his dermatologist never recommended it to him. Just goes to show, you have to do your own research and tell your doctor what you want to try. Thanks for sharing your story!

I am so glad to have "stumbled" upon your site! My boyfriend has serious plaque psoriasis on his scalp mostly and has never had relief. I encouraged him to get to his dermatologist and ask for the stuff you use. He's been using both medicines topically and for the first time in his life, his scalp is nearly clear! He is 60 years old, so you can imagine how happy he is. Thanks so much for sharing your story!

I'm with you. I used to smoke from 14 to 26 yrs of age. I quit and a year later I came down with P. then I had a bad case of guttate. After some management and trying everything in the book... I just stuck to the creams. I got my P. somewhat under control... it was on my elbows, knees, shins, some spots in my hair and other parts of my body would come and go. I was happy that it wasn't everywhere like it used to be. I started smoking this last year (I know... unbelievable!) for about 8 months and I'm 33yrs of age. Didn't see a difference when I started smoking again. I have quit again and its been 2 months. My P. is actually getting worse right now but I think it's the holidays and stress. Who knows... I'm tired of trying to figure this disease out! All I know for sure... is that it SUCKS!
