Seborrheic Dermatitis Symptoms
Seborrheic Dermatitis, known as “Cradle Cap” for infants, is a dermatological disorder that usually affects the scalp. The most common symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis include white or yellow scales or patches on the scalp or hair follicles, greasy red skin covered with flakes or scales, and itching or soreness (except in infants, as cradle cap is usually not itchy). Another symptom can include small, brown bumps on the skin.
Seborrheic Dermatitis usually affects the scalp, but can occur between folds of skin or areas that have more prominent oil glands. These areas include groin, armpits, behind your ears, in between eyebrows, and the sides of your nose. Seborrheic Dermatitis can often vary in severity, experiencing periods of signs and symptoms improving, followed by periods where the symptoms worsen.
Since seborrheic dermatitis symptoms are so similar to scalp psoriasis, it is best to find a licensed dermatologist to diagnose your exact condition.
